The successful candidate must hold a full drivers license and NZ Electrical Practicing License. You’ll have great customer service skills, be able to work unsupervised, and run your own jobs.
Reporting to the Director, this position is responsible for performing skilled electrical work in the installation, alteration, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures in accordance with AS/NZS Electrical standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Install, alter, maintain, and repair electrical wiring systems and equipment, both high and low voltage, air distributions systems, pumps, transformers, motors, and appliances.
Understand electrical plans for new home builds, commercial building and electrical equipment.
Draw circuits on a diagrams for controls.
Design functional electric circuitry for electrical systems.
Locate and adjust defects in electrical systems and equipment.
Install electrical fittings to existing houses, building and/or other structures.
Express ideas on technical problems clearly and concisely orally and in writing in the English language.
Liaise with clients and/or other relevant personal.
Keep clients informed of tasks completed &/or timeframes to complete tasks.
Comply with New Zealand laws and regulations regarding safety.
Adhere to all company safety guidelines.
Use and care for hand tools and equipment necessary to perform various electrical repairs tasks.
Meet company attendance requirements.
Meet company uniform appearance and grooming standards.
Complete relevant tasks as requested by other managers and/or team members.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Must hold a NZ electrical certificate (be a qualified electrician).
Work Environment /Physical Demands:
Employee must be able to distinguish between the full range of colours in the colour spectrum to work with electrical wires. Use graphic instructions such as blueprints, schematic drawings, layouts, or other visual aids; measure distances with a tape measure or other measuring device.
May from time-to-time work in small, cramped areas such as ceiling crawl spaces, equipment enclosures, closets, etc.; climb ladders or steps to reach work area; work at heights greater than ten feet. Remain in a standing position for extended periods of time; work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the outdoor elements; move heavy objects with proper equipment and travel across rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces.
